Quality is not an act, Quality is never a fortuity; it is the result of hard work, consistency, patience determination and doggedness. Since I stepped into the teaching profession, I have realized that, “The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts.” Every great personality is the product of good teacher. All of us at Shri Shivaji Maratha Society’s Law College understand that “great power comes with great responsibility” and as a Law, more so.
Hence, we Shri Shivaji Maratha Society’s Law College strive to achieve excellence by optimum utilization of all the resources at our riddance and raising the standards of disseminating education in Law. Similarly College strive to achieve the pursuit of “Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay” the mission of Shri Shivaji Maratha Society. With a vision of imparting Quality Legal Education through modern knowledge and to democratize Quality higher education in the field of Law and Justice , College is endeavoring to achieve the mission of our Society.
Shri Shivaji Maratha Society’s Law College established in the year of 2003 by registering Three Year Law Course and in the year 2004 by registering Five Year Law Course. Shri Shivaji Maratha Society’s Law College has carved an alcove for itself among the Law Colleges in Pune with its academes and achievements through an abundance of merited events. It has become one of the pioneering colleges imparting quality legal education, a reputation that gets recapitulated in the different Colleges. It is being one of the preferred choices for aspirants across India.
It is an objective of the College to nurture lawyers innated with ideas and values required for playing a constructive role in welfare of the society. Our College believes that education is the backbone of any healthy society and disseminating extensive legal education is essential for blooming of society. We work with a mission, i.e. to provide ‘Quality Legal Education with a motto of “Bahujan Hitay, Bahujan Sukhay”. The College focused to expand skyline by providing students and faculties with all the comforts and appliances whether it was during the Covid -19 pandemic or thereafter.
In spite of our independence achieved 77 years ago, the goals of justice-social, economic and political and of liberty and equality have not yet been fully attained. In a democratic country like ours, the role of this noble profession has always been very significant. It is the watchdog of democracy and ever vigilant in the matters concerning rule of law as guaranteed by the Constitution of India. When Indian Constitution completed 75 years, College has clutched and celebrated the series of Lectures and events strengthening Indian Constitution.
We, at Shri Shivaji Maratha Society’s Law College Pune, provide excellent facilities that are in tune with intensive academic instructions. Academic integrity, coupled with innovative pedagogy, creates a motivating atmosphere for developing a holistic perspective. We intend to facilitate training which caters to the present needs of students. By crossing the fencing cum traditional methods of teaching-learning, we give maximum exposure to students, which is the requirement of the era. The well-equipped library with international resources gives the students access to comprehensive legal resources that helps them to delve into the theoretical and practical knowledge.
More importantly, astride the mandatory curriculum, our institute has rightly entered the realm of legal research, to open up the minds of our students in consonance with the demands of globalization, and sensitize them to the current developments in the legal arena. College has quaffed in its students the need for participation and holistic development and will continue to do so. Hence, towards the end of the Academic Year, Cultural Event is held every year. A whole week of Academic, Sports, and Cultural events, concluding with a gathering, and the colors of joy embellish the campus.
The vision of our College is for its further development is to enroll more students from the rural areas and urban area too by which the revolutionary thoughts of Rajashri Shahu Maharaj, who believed in free and compulsory education to the students of all classes in the society will come in reality.
The College remains strong and resolute in these trying times of a competitive and commercialized nature of legal education by holding on to its institutional ethos and strength of rich heritage of Shri Shivaji Maharaj and professional character, thus fulfilling its objectives of training not just the finest of the legal practitioners but also by nurturing professionals, thinkers and good human being in every sphere of society.
